What is Functional Manual Medicine?

Functional manual medicine is the art of diagnosis and therapy with thinking fingers and crying hands of a skilled practitioner. When your body does not work as it was created to perform, you may experience sensation of being out off balance, sensation of tightness, tenderness, discomfort or pain. Also, you may have muscle spasms, heaviness, weakness, tiredness, etc.

How does it work?

The first visit takes about 1 hour. I check your body from the top of your head down to the tips of your toes complete a total body evaluation. After examination, I continue with  manual treatment and finish with the very specific program, so you can maintain the improvement. I provide you with the instruction and training on life-style modification, indispensable to improve the way your body feels and performs.

How it is different from massage therapy?

Massage therapy is done in a sequence and a similar pattern of techniques that are usually the same on every client. Manual medicine specialist identifies problems and performs a very specific manual techniques for the purpose of making changes, so your body can return to a healthy balance, These manual medicine techniques target not only the skin and muscles but also nerves, deep myofascial structures, joints and membranes found along your brain, spinal cord and nerves.

How it is different from PT?

Physical Therapist evaluates the function of your body and then treats the problems you have with performance of your nerves, muscles, joints, and bones by the means of therapeutic exercise program and different modalities (ultrasound, electrotherapy, laser, etc). The goal of the physical therapy is to improve your physical performance during the activities of daily living. With manual medicine, the skilled and experienced practitioner can very early diagnose the problem with every organ of the body, like liver, stomach, or kidney. Manual medicine can improve digestion, heartbeat or toxic elimination.

How do I feel after treatment?

You may feel relaxed, sleepy, taller, straighter, more balanced. Occasionally, you may have some mild discomfort for a couple of days but this mean that your body responded to therapy.
